Eyelids correction

The aim of the procedure is to  remove the excessive skin from the upper and lower eyelids, so called „puffy bags”, wrinkles that are around eyes and the correction of orbital fat.

Course of the procedure

The procedure consists of an excision of an eyelid’s skin fragment. An incision is performed in the natural folds, parallel to the margins of eyelids, also under the eyelashes. The wounds are closed with the delicate sutures. Sometimes the removal of the orbital fat is necessary, especially when so called “puffy bags” are present. The surgery lasts about an hour.

Postoperative course

After the operation moist, cold compresses with chamomile or boric acid solution are recommended. Sutures are removed after 5 to 7 days. The normal appearance is obtained after about 10 days, a complete healing lasts about
a month. The final result of the procedure is
to be evaluated  just after this period.

Anesthesia

According to the extent of the operation,
it is performed under local or general anesthesia.

The conditions of the procedure process

Before the procedure an anaesthetic consultation takes place. The essential laboratory tests
are ordered by the anaesthesiologist. Contraindications to the procedure are: vascular diathesises, clotting disturbances, uncontrolled hypertension, uncontrolled diabetes and purulent infection of the procedure area. Smoking can badly influence the wounds healing and worsen the procedure results.

Time of hospitalization

If the local anaesthesia is chosen, hospitalization
is not necessary. After general anaesthesia
a patient stays in the clinic for one day.
7 days of convalescence in home conditions
is recommended.
