What is a CO2 laser

A CO2 laser has been used in medicine since 1964 and has the widest indications to application in dermatological practice. Laser energy is absorbed by  intra- and extracellular water. In the area of action the zone of coagulation is created.

Course of the procedure

Bloodless evaporation with the laser beam. Application of dressing with an ointment.
The next day an area after evaporation is covered with the brown superficial crust.

Anesthesia

Anesthesia – local administration of anaesthetic.

Postoperative course

Each time a specimen to the histopathological examination is taken. Healing lasts 7 days to 2 weeks. After the healing a small red spot can
be visible, but it whitens after a few weeks.
When the results of histopathological examinations are known, a repeated excision may be necessary to resect the lesion with a wider margin of tissu

Advantages of CO2 laserotherapy

  • Lack of damage of surrounding tissues.
  • Convenient process of healing – a procedure does not  exclude from the professional activity, small dressings, short time of healing and above all very small  marks after the procedure, cosmetics can be used.
  • Impossible hepatitis and HIV virus infection – a procedure is performed with a touchless method.
  • High therapeutic effectiveness.
  • Relatively low cost of the procedure.
