Abdominoplasty
The plasty of abdominal integument or abdominoplasty is a surgery of which aim is to remove the cutaneo – fatty fold from the abdominal wall, sometimes a plasty of fascia of the straight muscle of the abdomen is also necessary. In this way the improvement of the abdomen appearance is achieved by flattening and the proper tension of the abdominal wall.

Course of the procedure Surgical incisions are localized around the navel and just over the pelvic area. Sometimes onlya correction of the lower part of the abdomen (below the navel) is enough. In some cases the procedure can be connected with liposuction (big, saggy abdomen with thick fatty tissue). The time of the surgery is about 3 hours.
Anesthesia The procedure is carried out under general anaesthesia. |
The conditions of the procedure process Before the procedure an anaesthetic consultation is performed. If needed, the essential laboratory tests are ordered by the anaesthesiologist. Contraindications to the procedure are: uncontrolled hypertension, vascular diathesises and clotting disturbances, phlebitis of the lower extremities, uncontrolled diabetes, hyperthyroidism, and purulent skin infection. Smoking can badly influence the wounds healing and can worsen the procedure’s results.
Time of hospitalization Period of hospitalization usually lasts 7 days. Postoperative healing lasts about 14 days.A return to ordinary activity lasts about 3 weeks. An extensive exercise is possible after about 3 months.
