Abdominoplasty

The  plasty of abdominal integument or abdominoplasty is a surgery of  which aim is to remove the cutaneo – fatty fold from the abdominal wall, sometimes a plasty of fascia of the straight muscle of the abdomen is also necessary. In this way the improvement of the abdomen appearance is achieved by flattening and the proper tension of the abdominal wall.

Course of the procedure

Surgical incisions are localized around the navel and just over the pelvic area. Sometimes only
a correction of the lower part of the abdomen (below the navel) is enough. In some cases the procedure can be connected with liposuction (big, saggy abdomen with thick fatty tissue). The time of the surgery is about 3 hours.

Postoperative course

The elastic pressure dressing is applied onto the whole abdomen. In the first 24 hours after the procedure a patient has to stay in bed. On the second day the gradual mobilization of the patient is begun. A return to the ordinary functioning usually takes  2-3 weeks.

Anesthesia

The procedure is carried out under general anaesthesia.
